Australia Pay Experience Report – Ceridian

pay experience

The Ceridian Australia Pay Experience Report: Employee Perspectives On Payroll And Compensation not only discusses how employees in Australia feel about how they are compensated but also explores the differences between part-time and full-time workers as well as people who are working contract or freelancing.

The results from the survey imply that payroll processing is not just another administrative assignment that must be performed weekly or fortnightly. The way in which people get compensated for their work is associated with issues of fairness, transparency and communication.

Some main findings from this report include:

  • Slightly more than 50% of respondents said they were satisfied with their compensation and only 25% said that they were “completely satisfied”.
  • 41% of the people who said they were unhappy with their jobs explained that it was because they felt they didn’t get a good salary.
  • 40% of part-time employees and 57% of contract/freelance workers were not satisfied with their jobs because of their salary, while only 37% of full-time employees felt the same.
  • 33% of the respondents claimed to have received incorrect pay at least once over the last 12 months, while 29% reported receiving a late pay. Of those who said they received late payment, 40% recognized “disorganization within the company” as the reason for the delays, while 23% cited direct deposit problems and 17% said cashflow problems caused the delays.
  • 56% of respondents would prefer to receive payment weekly, which indicates a desire to access their earned salaries more frequently.
  • 82% of respondents claimed that they were at least slightly stressed about pay and money issues, 26% of whom also admitted that they are “very” or “extremely” stressed.
  • Not many workers felt that their employers care greatly about their financial well-being with only 19% of them agreed that their employer cares “very much”; 35% of them didn’t think their employer cares and 16% did not know.
  • 44% of employees agreed that their company is transparent about pay, while 31% of them claimed they didn’t know formally but had some ideas from speaking with other colleagues.
  • Only 36% of respondents strongly agreed that their company communicates pay issues clearly, implying that this is a potential development area.
