29 May Sourcing talent online – are you using the right tools?
By OnRec.com
Recruiters and HR departments need to make sure they are using the right digital channels for recruitment, according to online recruitment agency, webrecruit.
In a recent survey of over 700 UK job hunters, webrecruit found whilst social media is increasingly being used by job hunters and businesses, there is a need to make sure it is being used for the right reason. For example, 44% of respondents recorded that they follow company activity on Facebook. When it came to finding the perfect job though, only 3% found Facebook useful.
The popularity of social media however, was crystal clear with more than half (73%) recognising the positive impact this has had in their job search. The LinkedIn jobs section was the obvious high ranking choice when searching for jobs, however the runners up signalled a move toward more engaging tools. LinkedIn Groups, LinkedIn Company Pages and Google+ – the baby of the social networks – came in second, third and fourth respectively.
According to Phil Roebuck, Founder / Director of webrecruit, “The rise of social media in the recruitment process has been well documented and we’ve seen huge increases in activity on LinkedIn for example. It’s vital now that recruiters and HR make sure they are using the right channels when it comes to sourcing talent. Just because you have a huge Twitter following doesn’t mean that platform will be the right one to recruit on.”
The full results of the survey are available online in the webrecruit report.
